Swatch & Review Rimmel Kate Planets Collection

Today I’ve got some lovely Rimmel Kate polishes. Perhaps you saw a sneaky post from me when I accidentally hit ‘publish’. I haven’t done that for ages so I suppose I was due a cock up. Anyway, the polishes. These are all dark polishes, which after the Rita Ora pastels makes me really happy (I might have mentioned I’m not a fan of pastels once or twice). I don’t know if the collection is called ‘Planets’ because it seems to be unnamed, but the polishes all reference a celestial object. So on with the swatches…

‘Mars’ is your classic red, with an orange lean. The colour is great, but I found the formula far too runny to manage easily, and it needed 3 coats.

‘Mercury’ smacks of 1990′s polish to me. Frosty, duochrome gold with a slight pink to gold shift. This might leave a few of you on the fence, which I have to admit is where I am with this shade. Two coats though so not as thin as I expected.

Give me all of the grey polishes! ‘Moon’ is a brilliant mid-to-dark grey, lovely and smooth, easy to apply, two coats, brilliantly even coverage.

I know I’ve had something similar to ‘Saturn’ before but I can’t quite place it. Dupe or no dupe, however, it is brilliant. Two coats and really easy to control, and a classy shimmery finish.

‘Venus’ is my kind of red. this was two coats, and the coverage was good, though the formula wasn’t the best. Not as bad as ‘Mars’, but still not the best of the bunch in regards to formula.

There is also no top coat on any of these, so you can see the full on glossiness of them all. That was really impressive, considering they’re not marketed as being especially glossy. On the whole I’m glad to see more polish from Rimmel. I’m still craving some exciting and complex formulas from them though, but for now ‘Saturn’ will tide me over.

Real mixed bag. Thanks for doing these because I’ve been looking at them in my local chemist and pondering!

      Cheers Emily :)

Nice swatches, but yeah, none of them really tug at me. Fortunate, b/c you often post gorgeous polishes that I can’t get my hands on. :) To me, Saturn looks like China Glaze Agro, but more olive toned. It is a lovely color and looks quite pretty on you.

I haven’t got that one either, but you could be close with that one! And thank you x
