It’s been a while, I know. Today though I have (finally) got the other two blogger collaborations in the Pretty Serious Stop! Collaborate & Listen collection, which round out the collection that includes my own baby – Iktsuarpok.
First up is Scrangie’s polish; ‘Herald of the Skeleton War’. I’m not going to even pretend I understand the reference in the name – I rarely understand them at all, but Scrangie’s level of cool far surpasses mine. Scrangie.com was the first pure nails blog that I read, as I’m sure it was for many people. Even with her blogging slowing down, you can still find her on Instragram, and her site remains on of my main resources for reliable swatches of OPI and China Glaze collections. ‘Herald of the Skeleton War’ is a blackened green jelly with iridescent blue flakes, golden green and purple microglitter and multi sized purple hex glitter.
Formula wise this takes a bit of management to be honest. I struggled getting the two coats on because there’s just so much going on in this polish. Looks wise though, this wasn’t a case of too much being a bad thing – the many different particles, all in a lovely shade of green jelly, make for a really cool finished look.
For me, this HOTSW really shone here, with one coat over ‘Unmentionables’ from the PS undies range. It’s the perfect colour base to provide a solid foundation, without detracting from the awesomeness of HOTSW. Definitely my preferred way to wear this one, particularly because it makes application way more of a breeze.
Next up we have ‘Kashmir’, which was a collaboration with Christine over at Serenity Nails. It’s is a dark red based purple jelly with golden and copper microflakes, colour shifting purple to blue glass fleck and red opal flakes. You can read more about her shade here.
I am convincing myself there’s hints of the blue in the second of the images above, but I’m not sure if it’s just in my head because I couldn’t see them in real life either. I don’t know whether it was my eyes or the light but I couldn’t get it to flash blue at all – I tried direct sunlight outside, artificial light, and daylight bulbs. Aside from that, it is a lovely colour and applies really smoothly. It’s basically a one coater but typically I applied 2 out of habit. Top coat in all swatches is PS ‘Plump up the Volume’ (you need to buy that too).
So, that’s it for part 2 of Stop! Collaborate & Listen. The three shades really couldn’t be more different, though I do think they look like they belong together somehow. I don’t think it’s fair to round out this post with my usual ‘my favourite is…’ comments because there’s no way in hell I’d pick anything other than my own baby, regardless of how beautiful these two polishes are! So I’m just going to say that I don’t think that anyone’s collection would be complete without all three!
