Polish Days: Something New

Polish Days 'Something New' Swatch

Polish Days Something New – My First ‘Saran Wrap’

It’s time to bring in the new year with a brand new mani. This month Polish Days is all about trying something new, and believe it or not this is my first ever ‘Saran Wrap’. Am I right in assuming ‘saran’ is what we in Blighty call ‘cling film’? Whatever you call it, it has to be one of the easier effects to attempt, though I suspect mastering it might take some work.

I do like how this turned out, but it’s not quite what I imagined! I was going for bright and fun, but somehow end up getting ‘bright and fun 70′s tie-dye’. Some nails ended up looking different to others, which I’m putting down to either dabbing the cling film on the plastic before the nail, and others just going straight to the nail.

I think I like this one the best

I think next time I’d like to try a single colour over a coloured base, and try to get more even patterns across all nails. I’m looking forward to seeing what techniques and/or polishes everyone else tried for their ‘something new’ post. wHat do you think? Have you tried saran wraps yourself?

Be sure to scroll down to see the other lovelies taking part in the December Polish Days.

Polishes used:

White: Pixi ’03′
Red: China Glaze ‘Igniting Love’
Blue: China Glaze ‘Hanging in the Balance’
Yellow: Essence ‘L.O.L.’

I love how this turned out! I’m a big fan of the saran wrap technique, but I’ve never used it with more than one color so I’m super excited to try this out. It looks like an abstract water color!

Hannah, this is such a fun, bold saran mani. The next time I attempt one, I want it to have a strong contrast like this one.

Oh wow, I love it! I actually do a lot of my manis using this technique, but always just two colours, never even thought of using more — it’s awesome!

This is so cool! I love manicures like this. I think my favorite is the pinkie. It looks like a water marble.
