It’s been a while, I know. Today though I have (finally) got the other two blogger collaborations in the Pretty Serious Stop! Collaborate & Listen collection, which round out the collection that includes my own baby – Iktsuarpok.
Since trying the Barry M Sunset polishes I’ve been keen to try something with the same aim from another brand. OPI’s Infinite Shine uses a 3 step system for a high-shine creme finish that lasts for up to 10 days (apparently). Like the Barry M’s it can be removed with normal remover, and provides high-shine long wear colour, but the difference is that OPI uses a specific primer base coat whereas Barry M make no mention of a base coat. You all know my feelings about applying colour straight to the nail – don’t do it! So I’m pleased to be trying one that includes both the top and base coat.
Good things come to those who wait, and this one was worth the wait! It’s been about two years in the making, plus two visits to Kaz and Ben of Pretty Serious Cosmetics in Australia (that’s not an essential part of working on a collaboration shade I’ll grant you, but it was as good an excuse as any to visit friends) but ‘iktsuarpok’ is finally here. I hope you all love it as much as I do!
I did ask for some Autumn Gelly shades back in spring and granted, I’m probably not the reason behind this release (as much as I’d love to be) but he’s gone and done it again. I’m so pleased to see some strong colours in the Gelly range after the lighter Summer tones. If I sorted my stash into light versus dark colours I suspect there would be about a 30:70 percent split in favour of dark colours. This could be partly down to my laziness and dark colours being more likely to provide one coat coverage, but I think it’s more down to just feeling far more comfortable when my nails have a strong contrast with my pastey skin. Anyway, enough waffle from me, onto the polishes…
Cruelty free, vegan friendly and 5-free, HJ Manicure polishes are a generous 15ml of classic colours and are a new UK brand. There’s quite a nice array of colours to choose from considering the current line up consists of only 16 polishes, and I chose ‘Sub Zero’ and ‘Blue Lagoon’, two cremes.
It’s always exciting to see brands collaborate with bloggers because 9 times out of ten you get to see something a bit different. Either a different offering from the brand, or a different perspective on the bloggers’ personalities. These three lovelies are no exception.
WARNING: Picture heavy
I have a love for anything grey. I have grey jeans, t shirts, bags, towels, bed linen, even my company branding is grey. So I’ll happily try any grey polish too. ‘Faded Jeans’ is from the Powder Perfect ‘Lady is a Vamp’ collection, released last week and it’s awesome.
I’m falling behind with posts at the moment but I just can’t keep up with all the lovelies in my swatching pile! I’m in Croatia for work at the moment, but hopefully over the next few weeks I can catch up and show you some more awesome polishes. For today though, I have a polish from a new L.A. based brand called Poshinality.
