This new Revlon Brilliant Strength polish is an absolute eye-catcher on the shelves in Boots, which is why I bought it immediately, and then had to try it in various combinations…
Alone ‘Tantalize’ needs 3, maybe even 4 coats to appear dense and even begin to have the wow effect. It’s a beautiful glass flecked polish in a green base. It does apply nicely but I was hoping for more, so I tried a couple of differenct base colours:
‘Acid Yellow’ is a slightly green leaning yellow, so it definitely brings out the yellow and gold tones to ‘Tantalize.’ It looks lovely, but I was hoping for something a little less yellow, so I thought I’d give it a try over black:
Over black it’s certainly a more intense finish, and the contrast seems to make it feel more metallic in colour. Now, Esther over at Fab Fingertips asked if I could do a comparison, to which I responded with the fact that I didn’t have anything even close to compare it with. Turns out that was a fib, as I had a ferret around and found an untried Color Club from the Take Wing collection called ‘Fly With Me’. Below you can see a comparison between ‘Tantalize’ and ‘Fly With Me’ over Exposed ‘Apple Charlotte’ – a more green based bright creme polish than ‘Acid Yellow’.
They are close, but not spot on dupes. ‘Fly with Me’ has a brighter colour base and throws more green flashes, whereas ‘Tantalize’ has a murkier green base and leans more towards the gold-green flashes. ‘Tantalize’ is, in my opinion, a subtly more grown-up version of the bright Color Club polish.
The important bits:
|Cost:||£7.99 which makes it one of the dearest drug store brands, though Boots currently have a buy one get one half price deal.|
|Color Club:||Availability in the UK is a tricky one, but mine came in a set of 4 from good ol’ TK Maxx.|
